Analytics for Battery Technologies & Recycling
We are happy to announce the upcoming Industry Satellite Meeting on "Analytical Methods for Battery Technologies & Recycling." This Industry Satellite Meeting will take place during the largest conference for photon sciences, the Photon Science User Meeting of DESY and the European XFEL in January 2024 from 2:00 - 4:30 pm (incl. networking).
Short key notes by experts from science and industry will explore the current state of analytical methods with the focus on open questions and challenges. Starting with an overview of challenges in battery research and recycling, the ensuing talks will focus on best practices in x-ray science when it comes to batteries. Participants will gain insights in possible solutions towards higher efficiencies, better processes and achieving higher efficiency during the recycling process. This workshop will present a unique possibility to connect and to get to know leading experts in the field of battery research.
The following talks have been confirmed:
- Murat Bayram (Managing Director of EMR European Metal Recycling GmbH) will share his insights on Challenges and Chances within the Battery Recycling World
- Jan J. Weigand (Professor of Inorganic Molecular Chemistry at TU Dresden & co-initiator of the Center for Transformation of Chemistry (CTC)) focus is on the development of innovative synthesis and recycling concepts in the field of inorganic molecular and materials chemistry
- Volodymyr Baran (DESY Beamline Scientist) will showcase how high energy in-situ powder diffraction is a tool for better understanding recycling processes
- Antony Vamvakeros (R & D Lead Scientist, Finden Ltd) will illustrate how synchrotron techniques enable understanding of chemical composition and degradation of batteries
- Ulrike Boesenberg (Senior Scientist XFEL) will showcase how large X-ray-facilities enable characterization of battery materials
- Sebastian Schopferer (Head of Measurement Technology, Fraunhofer EMI) will share insights in studying battery failure using high-speed in-situ X-ray imaging
The workshop will wrap up with a panel discussion on challenges and chances in the field of battery technologies and recycling; followed by time for networking and possibilities for an exchange with other speakers and participants over drinks and snacks.
This is a hybrid event, participation is possible on-site and via Zoom.
