Getting to Hamburg
Most flights from within Europe take between one and two hours, there are some budget airlines as well as national carriers. It is usually no more than 200-250€ if booked early enough.
Connections from further away can travel via the usual European hubs. There is good connectivity via train within Germany and from neighbouring countries.
Gettting to the DESY Campus
The journey from the airport via S-Bahn or bus takes about an hour and costs 3.60€, a taxi is between 50 and 60€.
This page details how to get to the DESY campus in Hamburg.
NOTE: There is construction nearing completion at the Notkestraße entrance to DESY, therefore the normal bus route has changed. The recommended stop via Bus 1 is Groß Flottbeker Straße. Alternatively, use bus lines 2 or 3 to reach the DESY side entrance at stop Luruper Chaussee.
We recommend that you download the hvv App if you will be using public transport while in Hamburg. Tickets can be bought via the app, which also provides timetables and connection details. Tickets can also be bought at larger bus stops and S-Bahn stations, but not all bus stops have a ticket machine, and chash payments are no longer accepted in buses.
