Recommendations in Aachen

There are many nice places to eat or drink a beer in Aachen. Here are some options in the city centre:  

Restaurants: 

  • Restaurant Mostard, Mostardstraße 20, 52062 Aachen (Indian)
  • Kanpai, Alexanderstraße 17, 52062 Aachen (Sushi)
  • AKL, Pontstraße 1-3, 52062 Aachen (Lebanese cuisine. Few seats, but you can eat your meal next door at Egmont)
  • 60 Seconds to Napoli, Markt 17, 52062 Aachen (Pizza)
  • Xi An, Pontstraße 6, 52062 Aachen (Chinese) 
  • Café Kittel, Pontstraße 39, 52062 Aachen (Beer & food in a comfortable atmosphere. Sit outside in Summer.)
  • Molkerei, Pontstraße 141-149, 52062 Aachen (Students favorite for food & cocktails, good prices)

Tip: Walk down Pontstraße from the starting point "Markt". You're sure to find something you like.

Beer: 

  • Domkeller, Hof 1, 52062 Aachen (ErUM-Data-Hubs Favorite: drink a Kölsch on the terrace)
  • Hopfen + Malz, Elisabethstraße 6, 52062 Aachen (A little more expensive, but huge selection of craft beer)
  • Kuckucksnest, Mauerstraße 92, 52062 Aachen (Student pub with table football, billiards and darts)
  • Guiness House, Neupforte 6, 52062 Aachen (If you don't like German beer)

Tip: Start at the Elisenbrunnen and walk up past the cathedral in the direction of "Markt" and then proceed to "Pontstraße". Don't forget to check out the side streets as well. You can find good beer almost everywhere. You can also just buy a drink at a Kiosk and sit on Katschhof with a view on the Dom.

Don't miss it: 

  • Go to a bakery, e.g. Nobis am Dom (Münsterpl. 3, 52062 Aachen) or Moss (Hartmannstraße 2, 52062 Aachen) and order a "Streuselbrötchen" (Sweet crumble roll).
  • Try Printen, e.g. at Nobis am Dom (Münsterpl. 3, 52062 Aachen - best to buy souvernirs) or Printenbäckerei Klein (Krämerstraße 12, 52062 Aachen - best in taste)
  • Try Belgian Fries at Kathy's Frietnesse, Pontstraße 101-105, 52062 Aachen

 

Activities & Sightseeing:

  • Hike to the Dreiländereck (Border Belgium, Netherlands & Germany) and enjoy a beer and some food there.
