Workshop 3. Scientific Poster Lab

Workshop 3. Scientific Poster Lab - Applying visual methods to poster designs
with Julia Pawlowski

Date: 20 June 2024, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Venue: EMBL seminar room, building 48e

Outline:
Scientific posters are an integral part of the daily work of scientists. In this way, projects and results are to be presented to an expert audience to encourage discussions and to make new contacts within your peer group.

But what kind of visual methods can help you to develop your poster designs for a better transfer of information? How can you get more attention in case being one of many posters on a conference?

In this poster workshop, you will first receive short introductions to topics such as coloring and layout, dealing with design requirements and text-image compositions. Afterwards, you will work on your own subject-specific poster examples (or your drafts for future posters) by discussing questions in the group and to further develop your status quo with regard to your visual science communication.

Important note: Please bring a laptop with your own poster-example as PDF-file and also as an „open data file“ (."ppt"-Data for Powerpoint and as ".pdf") and an USB-stick with these works to the workshop. This will simplify the process of developing your designs within the group.
