RH presented the status of prototyping a DOI minting service at DESY. On her laptop initial code development have led to adding files to scicatlive in order to setup a landing page server as another service (#29, #185). Now it remains to do the code changes in the frontend (angular) code of the LandingPageServer repository (#327).
We discussed on DESY interests:
PIDs for instrument is may be useful but for DESY the “human factor” must be thought through. Comments from FS made clear first priority are DOIs for datasets. Then potentially for samples. Only then and really only if there is a clear view on why and how one would introduce PIDs for (ever changing setups of) instruments, one can start addressing it.
Other than that it would be interesting to inquire on other labs issue on large file lists, or how they organise, structure their datasets assuming the same user community.
We added one point to the list of future scicat release developments which will be presented at next weeks SCT by Frank S, called “hierarchical proposal types”. All other issues that are of concern to DESY are already covered (especially point "h" that relates to hierarchical datasets issue).
