Science communication has continued to develop and professionalise significantly in recent years. Its importance for creating an informed public that trusts science and scientific expertise has become clear for science and politics alike.

Communicating scientists and professional communicators can choose from a variety of different channels and communication formats. But how can they decide which format is best suited to reach their desired target group? What exactly constitutes "good science communication" against the backdrop of major societal challenges and transformation processes?

In this digital workshop, participants learn about the development and trends in science communication, get an overview of different formats and learn the basics of strategic communication with different target groups outside science. In practice-oriented group exercises, they will develop their own communication formats for their research topics. In addition, participants gain an in-depth insight into the world of science communication on social media: In interactive exercises, they learn about different social media platforms and design communication formats based on their own topics
