abstract:
The IDAF (Interdisciplinary Data and Analysis Facility) at DESY is a data centric compute facility. It is accessible by scientists of all branches of science at DESY, and open also to users beyond DESY.
This presentation will briefly describe the communities using the IDAF and their requirements, before explaining the concepts behind the implementation, and detail the implementation itself.
The different subcomponents of the IDAF will be described: The Maxwell HPC, Grid and NAF (National Analysis Facility), as well as the data storage systems, dCache and GPFS.
We will show how users interact with the IDAF, and which services leverage the IDAF from a compute cluster to a complete analysis service for scientists.
We will show how the IDAF contributes to scientific research, and is itself object of research and advances in science.
