Tim W mentioned that IT-RIC has set up a pilot portal called public-data.desy.de as part of several European projects (EOSC Beyond; DAPHNE4NFDI, see logos at the landing page public-doi,desy.de) which a new member of IT-RIC, Armando B M, run performance tests on. He introduced 4 types of tests, taking on purpose unrealistic but extreme cases to test worst case scenarios:

1. Load

2. Stress

3. Soak

4. Spike

   tests.

 

He went through each such tests he performed and discussed his results. Suspicious was the constant memory consumption of directly the limit of 2 GB independent of the number of simulated users, slide 5. He concluded that this is not a SciCat issue but a problem that the configuration/set up can solve.

He was not aware of Igors performance studies with a similar conclusion (more load balancer needed). We will follow up on further common performance efforts.

 

Talks in the pipeline

1. DAPHNE contribution to SciCat dev, where are we? Date to be announced, likely beginning of February.

2. Doi service at DESY: one pilot service called public-data.desy.de and one being set up for FS dealing with DESY data after the embargo period. Will be given by Tim and Regina. Beginning of March
