Jörg and Neele introduced us to their current activities and plans at P05 related to SciCat: Digital Amber Catatalogue (“AmbCat”), since their data deals with rare, brittle and fossile resin, ie. amber.

Goal of this OSCARS funded project was presented: provide a database with p05 data that is similar to human organ atlas, and link to external catalogues like senckenberg museum search (biodiversity). Work done for P05 data ingestion:

  • Her bachelor thesis is a GUI for p05 users for editing datasets in SciCat: scicat-editor.desy.de

  • ingestor.py reads HDF5/logs/json to produce for two types of data, raw and derived, a json that is used for SciCat ingestion.

  • Structure as is in GPFS is mirrored in SciCat: Per beamtimeID a handful raw Datasets are created. More processed, i.e. derived datasets refer to these raw datasets.

Plan is to mint DOIs in future _and_ offer access to actual data.

Future plans of AmbCat include data curation by adding attachments and adding some data visualization tool, e.g. ParaView.

RH will point them to DataCite conform changes of SciCat for them potentially to adopt the mapping.
