The resummation and simulation of QCD effects beyond the customary leading colour approximation and with full quantum interference requires new calculational paradigms. In this talk I will present the basic ideas and construction principles behind this approach, how it leads us to new results for jet processes at hadron colliders, and how we can use it to develop more accurate event generators.
