General information
If you would like to participate as an artist, please register. Anyone working or studying on the campus of Science City Bahrenfeld is very welcome to join.
There are no requirements on the art form, art size or number of pieces. In the registration form, we ask for more information. Please feel free to include anything that you deem relevant. We will do our best to make everyone's art shine!
We will provide A0 poster walls (up to 5) with hangers and pins, and/or tables. Please see at the end of the page for a detailed description. If you need to hang your art, please make sure that the hangers we provide are compatible with your frames. If you have any doubt, please contact us, and we can do some tests beforehand.
Participants are responsible to install and remove their art. It will be possible to install the pieces from Tuesday morning, February 17, until the start of the vernissage on February 17 at 6PM. We strongly encourage all artists to join during the vernissage, and to connect with the public and the other participants.
The art will stay on display from Tuesday 17, until Friday 20 afternoon.
Note that the exhibition will not be watched (except on Tuesday evening), and we can not be held responsible for the safety of the displayed pieces. That being said, last year, all visitors and passer-by were both respectful and careful, and we will go through regularly during the day to check that everything is alright.
In principle, any subject is allowed, with only few rules:
- Do not add price tag to your pieces. You are welcome to discuss trading your art during the exhibition, but for boring legal reasons, the piece cannot officially be on sale.
- Nudity is allowed, but please include representation of both genders, and let us know in the registration form.
- Displaying your art should (obviously) not break any law. In particular, pornography or racist content is not allowed.
Please bring an A4 description of yourself, with a picture. The idea is to allow the public to find the creator of the pieces they are looking at, and encourage discussion with them. You are welcome, but not required, to include contact information and links to personal pages, social media, or gallery.
From our experience, the public also enjoys having a small description for each piece.
Poster walls and hangers
Poster walls
The poster walls that we get access to are standard ones for conferences.

In addition, we have lighting from the top. It is not perfect as frames may cast shadow on each other, but it is very nice to have it, especially as the vernissage will happen at night.
Hangers
There are two main ways to hang your art.
First, if your art is not framed, we have pinned. They can be used non destructively by circling a piece as follow:
Otherwise, we will provide standard art hooks, like this one:
Note that not all frames are compatible with them!
An example of a compatible frame (notice the two metallic parts):
With this one, the hooks perfectly fit as such:
However, with the following canvas, there is no good place to hook:
In the last example, making the frame hold on the wall is a bit of a challenge. Please think about it in advance, so we don't have to come up with a solution on the spot! Feel free to contact us if you would like advice, we are happy to help you, as we really would like your art to be there, and firmly attached to the wall.
