By planeDESY can be easily reached from Hamburg international airport Fuhlsbüttel (HAM):

Taxi: A taxi to DESY (main gate: Notkestrasse 85) takes 40-50 min. and costs ~30 euros.
Public transport:
- Go to the "S-Bahn" train station inside the airport building and buy a "zone 3" ticket (2.80 euros) from the ticket machine (covers entire journey):
- Take line S1 (green), direction "Blankenese/Wedel", to "Othmarschen" station (~45 min).
- Take Metrobus line 1, direction "Sieversstücken" or "Rissen" or "Blankenese".
- Get off at bus stop "Bahrenfeld/ Trabrennbahn" (~5 min.) to reach hotel "Novotel".
- Get off at bus stop "Zum Hünengrab/DESY" (~7 min.) to reach the DESY main entrance and the DESY guest houses
By train (from Hamburg-Altona station)
Taxi: A taxi to DESY (main gate: Notkestrasse 85) takes 15-20 min.
Public transport:
- Buy a "zone 3" ticket (2.80 euros) from the ticket machine.
- Take line S1 or S11 (green), direction "Blankenese/Wedel", to "Othmarschen" station (~5 min).
- Take Metrobus line 1, direction "Sieversstücken" or "Rissen" or "Blankenese".
- Get off at bus stop "Bahrenfeld/ Trabrennbahn" (~5 min.) to reach hotel "Novotel".
- Get off at bus stop "Zum Hünengrab/DESY" (~7 min.) to reach the DESY main entrance and the DESY guest houses.
By car
Exit Autobahn A7 at Hamburg-Bahrenfeld: From A7 northbound turn left and from A7 southbound turn right onto the main road (Osdorfer Landstraße). Then turn right onto Notkestraße. The main entrance of DESY is the second road on the left.
DESY side entrance:
The side entrance of DESY is located on the Luruper Chaussee. The bus line 2 stops there (bus stop DESY). The side entrance is open for drivers from Monday till Friday, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is closed on weekends. It is open for pedestrians and cyclists at all time (to enter ring the bell to call the main gate)
