PATRAS 2019 will take place at the premises of the Institute of Physics at the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg. Founded in 1457, the University is one of the oldest in Germany and shaped Freiburg into one of Europe's famous "University cities", with students representing a significant fraction of the inhabitants. Freiburg is often called the "capital of the Black Forest", which rises to elevations of almost 1300m right next to the city. Our venue is conveniently located in walking distance to the old town with its gothic Münster (featuring the only German church tower that was completed in the Middle Ages), museums, restaurants, bars, shops etc. Freiburg is located in the south-western corner of Germany, close to the Rhine river. The favorable climate leads to the highest temperatures in Germany and lots of local wine and fruits.
