For your convenience, you might want to ask for a DESY map at the gate. To ease your orientation at DESY, here you find few directions and the practical information useful for your stay during the school.
After you enter DESY from the main gate Noktestrasse or side gate Luruper Chaussee, the School posters will guide you through DESY premises to the Seminar Room area in the main building, 1b. There, you can register and get help.

On-Site Registration will be opened in the foyer of the seminar room 4, bldg. 1b as follows:
For late registration and help:
You are expected to take your meals at DESY, except for lunch on July 11th (lecture-free day). The times and locations for the meals are listed below:
You will be also provided the lunch tickets for each day, which you will use to pay your meal. These tickets are charged with the amount of 5 Euro. In case the lunch meal you have chosen is more expensive, you need to pay the difference to the cashier in the canteen.
Also on the arrival day, the dinner will be provided at 18:00 in the canteen extension, bldg. 9
Power supply:
Please be aware, that German power supply operates on 220V and connection of your devices might require an outlet adapter.
Please dont forget the charger for your laptop.

- First Lecture day, July 07, from 8:30 (before the first lecture) and in the coffee breaks

Time plan for the Lecture-Free day, Monday July 11:
- Breakfast as usual 8:00 – 8:45, DESY Bistro, Building 9a
- Free time which you can use to explore the city of Hamburg. You will be provided with the public transport ticket for this day. This “HVV 9-Uhr-Tageskarte” (public transport day ticket) is valid from 9 a.m. until 6 a.m on the next day. It can be used on all HVV trains, busses and ferrys, except express busses (Schnellbusse) in the Greater Hamburg Area (Großbereich)
- 17:40 we meet infront of the Hamburg city Hall at Rathausmarkt, 1 for the school dinner.
- 18:00 – 21:00 School Dinner in restaurant „Parlament Hamburg“, Rathausmarkt 1 (in the basement of Hamburg City Hall), inside you will be guided by the School posters.
- 21:00 - 21.30 we walk (ca 20 min) from the restaurant to harbor (Landungsbruecken) where we take the boat.
- 21.30 – 22:00 boarding time
- 22:00 – 23:00 Lichterfahrt (light cruise on river Elbe)
- ca. 23.15:00 bus transfer back to DESY
