A hands-on introduction to the Rivet toolkit, covering the basics of running an analysis over hepmc events, comparing to measured data, and developing your own analyses. Several Rivet developers will be on-hand to help individuals with these tasks. This is a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with this toolkit for the purpose of documenting experimental results or to interpreting them. NOTE: Please ensure that you have access to a rivet installation before the tutorial. There are several ways to do this: - Obtain it from the LCG installation area. This should be possible from the NAF $ source /afs/cern.ch/sw/lcg/releases/LCG_84/Python/2.7.10/x86_64-slc6-gcc48-opt/Python-env.sh $ source /afs/cern.ch/sw/lcg/releases/LCG_84/MCGenerators/rivet/2.5.4/x86_64-slc6-gcc48-opt/rivetenv.sh - ATLAS and CMS software setups should come with a (fairly) recent Rivet installation. - Install locally by following the instructions here: https://rivet.hepforge.org/trac/wiki/GettingStarted - Download and set up a docker image: https://rivet.hepforge.org/trac/wiki/Docker It's also advisable that you have a working, recent LaTeX installation in order to make plots.
