Workshop 2 How to say NO with confidence

Workshop 2
How to say NO with Confidence
12 April 2018, 9:30 am - 5:30 pm, SR IV, building 99, CFEL

Have you ever had a bad conscience when saying no? Have you ever said yes just because you wanted to please the others? Have you ever said yes, because you didn’t want to offend anyone or you were afraid of conflicts?

Saying “no” is a difficult issue for many of us! After all, we do not want to offend, disappoint or annoy anyone. Also, in our working context, saying „No“ may be seen as a weakness or a sing of refusing taking over responsibility or showing effort. But learning how to say „No“ with confidence is an important competence that allows you to defend your position and become a stronger teamplayer

In this seminar you have the opportunity to learn how to say „No“ in a confident way. Via simulations of different real-life situations you will meet different communication partners with the help of an an actor as a sparring partner. You will directly experience the effects of your behaviour and also reflect on different strategies and approaches to build bridges to your counterpart.

After the workshop you will

  • understand the various levels of communication
  • know more about the different types of behavior of confrontations
  • have learned strategies to handle situations where you want to say no
  • have experienced that you can lead and influence a conversation
  • have experienced how to say no in a sovereign way
  • are well prepared to convince in challenging situations and feel more confident
