Description
We explore the role of thermal and quantum corrections to the effective potential and dissipation coefficients of scalar fields in a thermal bath in the perturbative regime. One motivation for this is the question whether dissipative effects can play a role during inflation, in particular in so-called warm inflation scenarios. A second motivation is a better understanding of cosmic reheating after inflation. As an application we discuss the possibility to constrain the inflaton coupling from cosmological data.
