The purpose of the workshop is two-fold: We want to inform you about what could be done, and you should tell us, what you would like to have. This will help us to prepare together Scientific Instrument Proposals for the workshops in Fall.
Therefore, it would be great if you could prepare a short presentation, just 2-3 slides, maximum 3 minutes, about the science that you want to do in 5-10 years, and what are the properties of the x-rays for those experiments. Tell us, what you want to do, but cannot do right now at PETRA III since the beam parameters are insufficient.
Which energy range do you need?
What is the required energy resolution?
Which beamsize?
Do you need a coherent beam?
What kind of detector?
How fast do you want to measure?
Do you want to combine XAFS with other techniques and probes?
And there are probably many more points, which you might want to raise.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us! If you are happy with the present parameters, you don't have to worry: We can still get them!
The main advantages of PETRA IV over PETRA III are the higher coherent flux in the hard x-ray range, which will be an advantage for some novel experiments, and the option to focus the x-ray beam to a smaller spot but with higher flux than right now.
If you plan to briefly present your plans and ideas, please send us a short mail with a title and the research field. This will help us in grouping your ideas in similar research fields and applications.
