The workshop takes place at the Orangerie (O) building.

Christian Ernst gave his wife Erlangen Palace, which had been completed shortly before, as a gift in 1703. The orangery was built a little later, from 1704 to 1706. In 1818, after the death of the margravine's widow Sophie Caroline, the orangery became the property of the Friedrich Alexander University.
