Waivers
To facilitate participation at our inaugural symposium by scientifically qualified scientists (including students) with financial hardships that may limit their ability to attend, we offer two types of a limited number of waivers for early-bird registration fees and travel grants for accepted posters or oral presentation.
Registration fee waivers
1. A maximum of 20 waivers of early-bird registration fees over €50 may be granted for accepted poster or oral presentations.
2. An application for the registration fee waiver must be indicated on the submission of the abstract for poster or oral presentation.
3. The waivers are decided by raffle only among accepted abstract submissions. The decision on the waiver will be communicated by email together with the decision about the acceptance of the abstract submission by the CDCS Office on 31st March 2022.
4. Preference will be accorded to eligible students.
5. The applicant still needs to register during the early-bird registration and pay the registration fee in advance.
6. The recipient of the waiver will receive reimbursement for the paid registration fee after successfully participating at the conference and then providing their bank details to the CDCS Office.
7. The waivers are valid only for the successful applicant and may not be transferred to another participant and cannot be exchanged for cash in part or full.
Registration fee waivers and travel grants
1. A maximum of 3 grants for registration fees and travel expenses over €500 may be granted.
2. An application for registration fee and travel grant must be indicated on the submission of the abstract for poster or oral presentation.
3. The criteria for selection include scientific merit (based on the submitted abstract and application) and demonstrated financial need. The applicant for the travel grant must further be based outside the Hamburg Metropolitan area. The decision on the fee and travel grant will be communicated by email together with the decision about the acceptance of the abstract submission by the CDCS Office on 31st March 2022.
4. The applicant still needs to register during the early-bird registration and pay the registration fee in advance. The travel expenses also need to be paid in advance and all receipts need to be saved. Travel expenses are reimbursed in accordance with the German Travel Expenses Act (please get in touch for details). If the beneficiary is not able to register in advance, which also implies the loss of a poster or oral presentation, the waiver will not be be granted.
5. The recipient of the fee and travel grant will receive reimbursement for the paid registration fee and travel expenses after successfully participating at the conference and then providing their travel receipts and bank details to the CDCS Office.
6. The waivers are valid only for the successful applicant and may not be transferred to another participant.
