The meetup will take place on the DESY campus (see map below). As there are particle accelerators on-site, entry is monitored. As a registered participant, you can simply walk in via the main gate.
To travel to the venue we highly recommend buying the 9-Euro-Ticket. This ticket allows you to travel in all regional trains in Germany and use all public transport options in Hamburg for just 9 €. It is valid for a single month (If you book it for July you can travel anywhere in Germany for the whole month).
Public transport: The closest bus stop is Zum Hünengrab (DESY). You get there by taking the S1 to Othmarschen and taking the bus line 1. Depending on your accomodation you can alternatively take the bus line 3 or X3 to Trabrennbahn Bahrenfeld and walk to the main gate.
Arriving by train:
- Hamburg Altona: take the S1 to Othmarschen, switch to bus line 1 and exit at Zum Hünengrab (DESY), takes 15 min.
- Hamburg Hbf (central station): take the S1 to Othmarschen, switch to bus line 1 and exit at Zum Hünengrab (DESY), takes 27 min.
Arriving by plane:
- Hamburg Airport: take the S1 to Othmarschen, switch to bus line 1 and exit at Zum Hünengrab (DESY), takes 55 min.
Arriving by car:
- The entry to the DESY campus is restricted for all vehicles. Therefore you need to park your car adjacent to the campus and enter as a pedestrian.
We will meet at the DESY autditorium for on-site registration on the first day. As finding one's way around the campus can be confusing (even with a map) we will show you how to get to all relevant places when we see each other in person.
Accomodation:
Each team has to book accomodations on their own. We recommend looking for different hostels/hotels or booking via Airbnb.
