Scientific Programme

The workshop will be in two parts, the first describing the experiences about the presently used data communication link, it's pros and cons. Requirements and lack of functionality. There are also problems about the components around, which we will discuss and understand what is needed to be learned about. Different Experiments, LHC, and non LHC will be present and report. In the second part we will review technologies and strategies, what is presently on the market and what is the perspective for the future. Information from industry or near industry as well as reports from the HEP community are foreseen. The aim of this is to evaluate fields in which german groups can work together or share experiences. For this, the understanding and knowledge about the work of the other groups is needed. The workshop will offer a first forum to discuss together about these items.
  • Motivation for fast data transfer links

  • Present situation of the readout for the individual participating experiments

  • Market situation of optical components for data transmission

  • Future perspective for optical data transfer

  • Ongoing and future R&D
