Report on ESS visit for DCS tasks
DESY, building 1, 2nd floor, SR 03a
2024-12-02 9:01 – 9:38
We gave a report on our 3 days stay at ESS, Lynby
-
Day 1: brought DESY user issues to Max, e.g.
-
P08: grouping and tagging datasets
-
FLASH issue (with “/”)
-
-
Day 2: Dedicated to Task 3.3
-
We met Martin T from Sigma Technology and coded task 3.3
-
-
Day 3:
-
Finished coding, added documentation (to be published)
-
Max and Regina talked about status of the DAPHNE contribution to SciCat and remaining tasks and how they will help the SciCat community.
-
Already in the preparation phase it became clear that Task 2 of the DCS list (mapping DataCite fields) will not be tackled during this stay as more input like experimental techniques in a standardised way is required.
Nicolas presented the code changes, how to use it and what it means: We will have dataTypes removing constraints from current types (raw and derived). Questions arised on
-
whether now optional fields are indexed/findable: yes, as they are high level fields; even if not indexed one can use elastic search to find them.
-
will be documented (in swagger, and for user), dataTypes will be handled per site
-
relation to schema → conclusion.
Conclusion: The use case will show how one can make use of it, providing now the option of hierarchical datasets.
