Scope of the Workshop
The XRMS workshop series brings together leading scientists in the
field of spectroscopy of magnetic solids using x-rays. Its aim is
to facilitate a stimulating forum for presentation of new results and
ideas, to discuss future perspectives and establish new collaborations.
This is particularly appealing in view of new experimental possibilities
at the various photon sources at DESY in Hamburg:
• The free electron laser facility FLASH,
• the upcoming new synchrotron radiation source PETRA III,
• and the European X-ray free-electron laser XFEL.
History
The workshop has a tradition that goes back into 2000 when the
first XRMS was hosted at BESSY, Berlin. Since then it was held
annually, always in conjunction with a user meeting at one of
the synchrotron radiation laboratories in Europe.
Presentations
The workshop combines invited talks (30 + 10 min)
with contributed talks (20 + 5 min.) and posters.
Contributed talks will be selected on the basis of
the abstracts received.
The XRMS 2008 workshop precedes the HASYLAB Users Meeting (January 25).
Moreover, it runs parallel with the 2nd XFEL Users Meeting and shares a session with it.
Topics
• Time-resolved magnetization dynamics in nanostructures
