Very recently DESY-IT has established a new High Performance Computing
(HPC) platform enhancing opportunities for complex simulations and
data analysis. The HPC cluster offers 1024 cpu cores distributed over
16 nodes connected with a fast inifiband backbone. Each of the nodes
is equipped with 256GB of memory and connected to various network
storage devices including a high-performance parallel file system.
We will present a brief overview of the available compute resources,
the layout, configuration and the operational model of the HPC cluster,
how to gain access and use the new infrastructure.
