The idea for this series of courses was created in 2001 when the idea to build x-ray free-electron lasers became real with the proposal of X-ray FEL facilities for 0.1 nm radiation in Europe and in the U.S.A. In the years 2001 to 2007 in total six courses have been organized
I. Coherent X-rays - Properties, Generation and Applications (Oct 15-17, 2001)
II. X-ray Investigation of Fast and Ultrafast Processes (Mar 25-27, 2002)
III. Plasma Physics with X- rays (Mar 5-7, 2003)
IV. New Science in the VUV to Soft X-Ray Domain (Mar 16-18, 2005)
V. Scientific Applications of Coherent X-Ray Radiation (Mar 1-3, 2006)
VI. X-Ray Investigation of Ultrafast Processes (Feb 27 - Mar 2, 2007)
VII. New Materials in New Light (Mar 5 - Mar 7, 2008)
VIII. Magnetic Materials on Synchrotron and XFEL X-Ray Light (Feb 18 - Feb 20, 2009)
IX. Disordered Materials in Synchrotron and XFEL X-ray Light (Feb 17 - Feb 19, 2010)
X. Ultrafast X-Ray Science with X-Ray Free-Electron Lasers (Mar 30 - Apr 1, 2011)
XI. New X-ray Sources for Life Science Applications
