After briefly reviewing the problems of the usual Z3-symmetric NMSSM, which basically exclude it, I will discuss a similar singlet extension of the MSSM based on a discrete R symmetry. In particular, I will focus on naturalness of the model as well as implications for the Higgs sector and a possible connection to the Fermi gamma ray line.
