      SemR 1

      DESY

      Hamburg, Germany

      we will discuss more detailed future projects and the structures for collaboration with Inspire and other participants. Topics may include:

      Author and affiliation ID systems

      Interoperability / Data Exchange

      Lunch
      Data behind figures and tables

      Citations and metrics
      Text-mining

        Author / Affiliation ID

         -CrossRef Working group on Contributor ID Create Plan/Proposed system:

        * Requirements from each interested party (what look up metadata would we send to a service to resolve author names?  How would you use the data coming back?)

        * Distill reqs into unified system * Time scale summer 2008 for reqs * Inspire (google groups?) wiki page for data collection over next month scale (all atendees invited to participate)

         * ADS+arXiv+inSPIRE exchange author+hash(email) in effort to resolve duplicates and determine scope of overlap and problem

        =============================

        Data exchange between systems

         Items to exchange? More than just eprints<->journals Confirmation reciepts (catch errors) Another laundry list wiki: -Forum for list of metadata elements and sources (flowing both ways) -

        =================================

        Fulltext

        Fulltext hidden, used only for search and other internal purposes within inSPIRE and ADS write proposal to publishers detailing the use of these texts and restrictions that would be reasonable.  Possible plagiarism detection

         =======================================

        Data in Figures in Tables

        * Preservation of mid-level data (analysis results, but not final paper formats).  I.e. attaching data to papers.

        * Extracting data out of published figure/tables.  I.e. clicking on table

        Extra pieces can be attached and archived/stored with journal article  (arXiv  formal data branch to papers RSN (informally works now) APS->EPAPS (allows attachments of data, not  heavily used, but should be).  JHEP as well.  Other Publishers?)

        These services need to be discussed with potential users (collaborations etc)

        THese services need to be advertised on services like inSPIRE (included in APS OAI feed)

        solutions already in place: Visibility, visibility, visibility!

        Clickable links from pdf  to data objects? probably not much more useful

        Futre project:  Study beginning of HEP data preservation of lower level (much larger) objects that could potentially be stored in journals for re-use.  Much more to say in a year
