We review some recent progress in understanding spontaneous CP violation in the context of discrete symmetries. In general, the concept of CP symmetry has to be generalised due to keep the theory consistent. We will present one non-trivial example with a discrete family symmetry T’ and furthermore show that the quark sector exhibits a hint at spontaneous
CP violation which can be used to solve the strong CP problem without axions.
