Day 2. Workshop 2 Entrepreneurship & design thinking

Workshop 2. Entrepreneurship and design thinking with Andreas Voss
Venue & Date: SR 3, building 1b, DESY/Bahrenfeld Campus, 9:30-17:00, 5 April 2019

In this workshop, graduate students and junior researchers get an overview of the Design Thinking approach, a creativity technique they can use to generate/utilize ideas from their own research results. In addition, they learn how to develop new products or services as well as their own business models using their own ideas. Design Thinking is based on the cognitive working process of designers. Whenever designers develop ideas and solutions, they progress step by step: they empathize, define, innovate, create prototypes and test these. This is exactly the process our participants will go through within the workshop.

The workshop offers a mix of theoretical input as well as creative and practical group exercises, which encourage the participants to think and act like entrepreneurs when analyzing their ideas and business models. In order to create an interactive learning environment, the participants can ask individual questions and share their own experiences and opinions within the group.

Learning Outcomes:

  • becoming familiar with the Design Thinking approach
  • creating awareness for entrepreneurial thinking and acting
  • exploring the option of turning research results into actual business ventures
  • thinking customer- and solution-oriented
