Intro:
- need to have a radiation map for the racks etc
Louis:
- can go in air
- too much energy is dumped outside of the dump.
- dump is not encompassed in shielding so we will have leakage
- should have a long rectangular dump
- probably not limited by weight we can put on the floor
Vacuum/Hybrid:
- can have tiered vacuum with membranes?
- can access without breaking the vacuum of the machine (can be done with valves)
- get-valve upstream
- can the vacuum (1e-6 Pa) be kept with the 200 um Kapton and also if the chamber doesn’t collapse
- check 0.5mm also 2mm aluminium in terms of bkg.
- preference to go in vacuum and optimise the window in terms of bkg.
- reduce the joint between the triangular part and the beampipe.
- can we replace the aluminium/Kapton by diamond (radiation length is smaller)?
- check also how much the Kapton can take in terms of radiation —> low melting point
- AWAKE was 2mm of aluminium —> preferred there.
- we go w/o vacuum where the Cherenkov and the screen are pushed backwards (e+laser #2hybrid)
Ruth:
- can do the measurement with “e+laser #2hybrid”
- this still depends on the magnet
- this is linked to the length of the dump
- do not want to put the CKV in vacuum (access and gas tightness)
John:
- better energy resolution for “e+laser #2hybrid”
- need ~20 cm between the CKV and the screen so the camera has a line of sight
- solution of the vacuum with a transparent window / have the camera inside the vacuum chamber —> this is doable but not good.
- need to design much better the screen supports etc since it is going to generate bkg (Oz? —> Sasha)
Marco:
- not desirable (complicated, expensive)
- can perfectly work outside the vacuum
