The social program will consist of a reception at DESY the first day, and a dinner at the Harbour on 30th November.
Reception on Tuesday 28th November
The reception on Tuesday 28th November will take place in the CFEL building (bdg 99) soon after the session and it will include finger-food and drinks.
Conference Dinner on Thursday 30th November
The conference dinner will take place in an historical museum ship Rickmer Rickmers (https://www.rickmer-rickmers.de/) at the harbor on Thursday 30th November. Buses will leave at around 18:15-18:30 from DESY and bring the participants directly to the location of the dinner. Participants are required to wear their badges, to be identified as belonging to the ICFA 2023 seminar, as the ship will be reserved for us only.
The dinner will start with a reception drink in the museum ship, followed by a buffet-type dinner.
There will be no bus for the way back, participants are invited to use the bus or S-Bahn to go back to their hotels. For participants living in the Altona area the S-Bahn Landungsbruecken, which is in front of the ship, or bus number 2 can bring you close to your hotel (use the HVV app to find the best connection https://www.hvv.de/).
Coffee breaks
Coffee breaks are included in the fees and will be offered in the Foyer of the DESY Auditorium. A first welcome get-together coffee will be offered starting from 8:00 on Tuesday 28th November during the registration time in the Foyer of the Auditorium.
Lunches
Free vouchers for the lunches of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be given at the time of registration and are included in the fees. The vouchers have a value of 8 Euro and participants will have different options to use it:
- a limited number of lunch bags with sandwiches will be in the Foyer of the Auditorium;
- due to renovations, the main warm lunches are offered in a tent, two menus and soups are available (https://desy.myalsterfood.de/). A free dispenser for water is also there at the beginning of the queue;
- a salad bar with warm and cold dishes is available in the Bistro. This option is recommended for participants with dietary restrictions
The vouchers are for 8 Euro which should well cover your expenses. In case of overcost, please note that the DESY cantine does not accept credit cards for payment. We strongly recommend that you provide yourself with cash in Euro before you enter DESY the first day. In alternative DESY cards for lunch can be purchased and recharged with cash at the machines in the cantine extension. For the card you need to pay a deposit of 5 Euro. You can return the card in one of the machines to get the deposit back (coins only), as well as the amount of money that is still on the card.
