The DESY-Hamburg laboratory is located within a residential area on the western side of Hamburg. There are numerous hotel accommodations available in Hamburg, and a few within walking distance to the campus. We recommend that you use one of the well-known booking sites to make your reservation. We have not designated any special conference hotels nor did we reserve special room blocks at hotels, since this is mostly more expensive than if you use booking sites. Instead, below we point out a few hotels close to DESY below.
DESY also offers on-site accommodations in the DESY Hostel to guests (Single room with bath: 35,- Euro; Double room with bath: 44,50 Euro). We have a reserved a limited number of rooms on-site for the conference. Please use the code ICFA2023 when booking a room at the DESY hostel, to make sure you profit from the pre-reserved rooms. If you would like to stay at the DESY Hostel we strongly recommend that you book 4 weeks before the start of the conference, as our quota of rooms will be released after that.
The closest hotel next to DESY is the Mercure Hotel Hamburg Volkspark , which is located about a 5 min walk from the rear (Luruper Chaussee) entrance of the DESY campus and about 15 min walk to the DESY Auditorium where the seminar takes place. Note though that after 7 PM the rear entrance gate in Luruper Chaussee is closed for cars, but there is a door for pedestrian which can be used to exit the Campus. If you need to enter the Campus again after 7:00 PM, just ring the bell close to the door.
If you need to take the bus from your hotel to DESY, you can pay the bus ticket via the hvv.de APP or pay cash on the bus, entering the front door and buying the ticket directly from the bus driver. Mention that you have to exit at DESY to pay the right ticket fare. It is not possible to pay with credit card on the bus. If you take a combination of S/U-Bahn and bus, you can pay the ticket via cash or credit card at the red machines situated at the entrance of the S/U-Bahn stations.
