Most of the Workshop will take place in the DESY Auditorium, in building 5, five minute walking from the DESY main entrance (Haupteingang) in Notkestrasse 9, and from the main building of the DESY hostel, just adjacent to it. Two of the parallel sessions will take place in Seminar Room 2, on the ground floor of Building 2a. Building 2a is located at a walking distance of 5 minutes from the Auditorium.
DESY main entrance can be reached by bus 1, departing from the bus terminal just in front of the Altona train and S-bahn station and passing through the Othmarschen S-bahn station. Altona and Othmarschen S-bahn stations, besides being connected by bus 1, are also connected by S-bahn S1. S1 towards Altona/Othmarschen can be boarded at the main Hamburg train station (Hamburg Hbf) or at the airport.
Further information about how to reach DESY is available in the website https://www.desy.de/about_desy/getting_there/hamburg/index_eng.html
Attention: at the moment, there are deviations on bus line 1, due to construction work in Notkestrasse very close to the DESY main entrance. As a consequence, the closest bus stop to DESY is shifted in Osdorfer Weg. From there, one has to walk about five minutes to reach the DESY main entrance. Alternatively, at the Othmarschen S-bahn station, it is also possible to board the line 186, that also stops in Osdorfer Weg (same root as the line 1) and then walk from there to DESY, or the bus 284, stopping instead in Trabrenbahn Bahrenfeld, and then walk from there to DESY along Notkestrasse. All these options involve a foot walk of 5-10 minutes from the bus stop to reach DESY.
Coffee-breaks will take place in the area immediately close to the Auditorium, where posters could also be displayed for the whole duration of the event.
The DESY canteen, that participants can use as a practical option for getting lunches (considering that other possibilities are at a walking distance of at least 15 minutes), is located in building 9, just crossing the road from the Auditorium.
Please find here a DESY map (both the main entrance and the buildings of interest for this Workshop are located in the south west part of it):
