How do to lead your followers, your peers, and your supervisor

The aim of this workshop is to provide Junior Faculty with knowledge about concepts of effective 360° leadership: Formal leadership, upward leadership, and leading others while not being in a position of formal authority. Specifically, the workshop focuses on these topics:
  • The Full Range of Leadership in Academia: Effective Leadership and Dealing with Leadership Challenges
  • Lateral Leadership: Influence-Based Leadership in Sandwich-Positions
  • Upward Leadership: Effective Communication
Based on state-of-the-art knowledge of leadership, I will facilitate participants’ development of leadership and managerial skills while
focusing on the „Sandwich“-position that it typical for a junior / postdoctoral researcher..

Trainer
Tanja Hentschel is a psychologist at the chair of research and science management, Technische Universität München. She worked in the project "Selection and Evaluation of Leaders in Management and Academia" from 2011 until 2014. Tanja Hentschel has studied Psychology at the Technische Universität Dresden. From 2010 until 2011, she was a visiting researcher at New York University (NYU) in the lab of Madeline Heilman (Social Psychology).
