Description

We derive limits on the intrinsic charm (IC) content of the proton,
considering various theoretical models for IC, using as a basis
the results on the upper limit of prompt neutrino fluxes from the IceCube
collaboration. We work under the hypothesis that both the standard
heavy-flavour production and decay mechanism, mainly driven by gluon-gluon partonic interactions in pQCD, and the one involving IC, contribute to the
total prompt neutrino flux reaching the IceCube detector. We show how QCD
uncertainties on the standard calculation affect our limits on IC.
