Goals of the workshop
Today, research is primarily carried out in the form of projects. Typically, project managers have no formal authority over their team members. Nevertheless, they are responsible for guiding the team and to lead the project to success.
How can leadership succeed without damaging the collegial relationship?
In this workshop, participants will gain insight into fundamental principles, strategies and tools for lateral leadership. They will test some of them using case studies from their own practice.
Content of the workshop
· The special features of "lateral leadership": leadership with and without disciplinary function;
· Systemic leadership;
· Success factors for lateral leadership;
· Sources of "soft" power as a base of lateral leadership;
· Use of motivation in lateral leadership;
· Constructive negotiation as a leadership tool;
· Discussion of individual cases and questions.
Training methods
The training offers a mixture of different methods, with thematic inputs, individual and group tasks, short talks, as well as moderated plenary discussions. The main focus is the testing of techniques using case studies from the practice of the participants. All participants receive seminar papers and a documentation of the results.
The Trainer
Sven Aden, with a first degree in engineering and a postgraduate in Management of Further Education, is certified change manager and facilitator. He has more than 20 years of international experience as a management coach, project manager, moderator and consultant. Scientific institutions are among its main customers.
