The social activities will be:
- a tour of Hamburg with our early career researchers on Sunday afternoon
- a welcome reception on the campus Bahrenfeld / DESY premises on Monday evening
- a farewell dinner at Restaurant Kartoffelkeller in Hamburg on Tuesday
All the social activities are free of charge and offered by the University of Hamburg and the Cluster of Excellence Quantum Universe.
Lunches
Lunches are at your charge and there are two possibilities at DESY:
- the CFEL has a small cantine where you can only pay via card
- the DESY cantine has a much broader choice and it is about 10 minutes walk on campus from the location of the sessions. Here you can only pay cash in Euro and only at a particular counter (so watch for the right counter when you queue).
Hamburg Tour and Christmas Market visit on Sunday
An Hamburg Tour is organized by the Early Career Researchers on Sunday afternoon. You may join the Tour at any point, depending on your arrival time in Hamburg.
We strongly advice to wear jackets for cold weather and to take an umbrella.
- 15:30: Meeting point Elbphilharmonie (Platz der Deutschen Einheit, 20457 Hamburg) in front of the coffee fellows, located "Am Kaiserkai"
- 15:45: Enter Elbphilharmonie (free access)
- 16:15: Leave Elbphilharmonie and walk to Scandinavian Christmas market in the Swedish Gustav Adolf Church near Landungsbrücken station
- 16:45: Meeting Point scandinavian Christmas market in front of the church doors (Swedish Gustav Adolf Church)
- 18:00: Leave the Christmas market and walk towards Santa Pauli (takes 15-20 Min)
- 18:30: Meeting Point Santa Pauli (Spielbudenplatz) in front of the Panoptikum next to Spielbudenplatz
Dinner on Tuesday
The dinner on Tuesday will be at the Restaurant Kartoffelkeller starting from 18:30, Deichstraße 21. From DESY, it can be reached for instance via bus number 3 from the bus stop Luruper Chaussee (DESY) until Roedingsmarkt, it takes about 40 minutes. From other locations, please consult www.hvv.de.
A choice of menu will be sent beforehand. Please wear your badge for this event.
