Travel directions to the workshop locations

Monday sessions

 

The plenary session and the parallel sessions on Monday will take place at the Campus Bahrenfeld of the University of Hamburg and DESY:

If you come by plane, you can reach Campus Bahrenfeld via the public transport or via taxi. We recommend you to use the route planner https://www.hvv.de for the best connection at the time of your arrival. Tickets for the S-Bahn can be bought via the HVV app or at the red machines in the luggage area or in the S-Bahn entrance at the airport. The S-Bahn is marked by a green "S" sign.

Buses number 1 stops at Notkestraße, while buses number 2, 3, X3 stop close to the second entrance on Luruper Chaussee.

DESY/Campus Bahrenfeld is an open campus and you do not need anything to enter it, just walk in. You may want to ask a map of the Campus at the lodge at the entrances, it may be useful.

The  sessions on Monday will be in the CFEL Building (Building 99) not far from the side entrance of the campus. The sessions take place in Seminar Room I-III on the ground floor. You will find us easily after entering the building.

 

Tuesday sessions

 

The parallel sessions in particle physics on Tuesday will be at Campus Bahrenfeld:

  • Seminar room IQP building (Building 69) for experimental particle physics
  • Seminar room ZOQ building (Building 90) for theoretical physics

 

The parallel session in mathematics on Tuesday  will take place at the Campus Bundesstraße, downtown Hamburg, in Bundesstraße 45–55, pharmacy building, PHAR 513 (5th floor) Seminar Room II

  • from Hauptbahnhof, take the U2 to Schlump and then Bus 4 to Bundesstraße
  • coming from DESY, take the Bus 3 or X3 in the direction of the city centre to the S-Bahn station "Holstenstraße". 

 

The parallel sessions in astrophysics on Tuesday will take place in the library of the Observatory (Sternwarte), Gojenbergsweg 112, 21029 Hamburg, about 1 hour travel from Hamburg downtown:

  • Coming from DESY, take the Bus 3 or X3 in the direction of the city centre to the S-Bahn station "Holstenstraße". Take the S2 in the direction of Bergedorf or Aumühle to "Bahnhof Bergedorf" (~25 minute train ride). You can also catch the S2 at the main station (Hauptbahnhof).
  • Once in Bergedorf, either take the bus 332 in the direction "Friedhof Bergedorf" to the station "Sternwarte (Universität)", or take the bus 135 (this is ringline, so the direction doesn't matter much) to the station "Justus-Brinckmann-Straße". From there, follow the street Gojenbergsweg for about 450 m to the observatory.

If you want to use a bicycle during your stay in Hamburg, you can download the https://stadtrad.hamburg.de/en/home App. You can pay 5 EUR once and the bicycles are free for the first 30 minutes or you pay 0.10 EUR per minute without the registration fee.
