The Cluster of Excellence “Quantum Universe” performs research to understand mass and gravity at the interface between quantum physics and cosmology. The research team includes leading scientists from mathematics, particle physics, astrophysics, and cosmology at the University of Hamburg and the research center DESY.
Quantum Universe is organized into five interlinked research areas, comprising an ambitious research program:
- Higgs physics (H)
- Dark Matter and Axions (DM)
- Gravitational Waves (GW)
- Quantum Gravity (QG)
- Structures, Methods, Advanced Research Technologies (SMART), which pursues research into Algebraic and Geometric Structures, Artificial Intelligence, as well as Detectors, Quantum Sensors and Accelerators
This workshop will give you the possibility to learn about the research activitities in the Cluster of Excellence and the opportunities about doctoral and postdoctoral positions in Hamburg.
After an introduction to Quantum Universe from our spokespersons and scientific coordinator, you will have the possibility to introduce yourself and your research with a short talk in topical parallel streams. Talks should be 12 minutes long to allow time for discussions and questions.
We will be able to support a limited number of participants with partial funding. This will be communicated separetely to the acceptance of your application after the deadlines for registration, which are:
- 15 September for experimental physics
- 31 October for theoretical physics and mathematics
