The Deutsche Physikerinnentagung 2025 in Kiel offers a rich and diverse scientific program designed to inspire, challenge, and connect physicists from all areas, at all career stages—from students to professors, and those in academia and industry. Below are the highlights:
-
Keynote, Invited, and Contributed Talks
Cutting-edge presentations covering a broad spectrum of fields in physics. These sessions showcase the latest research results—from theoretical breakthroughs to applied physics—giving attendees insight into current trends, open questions, and future directions in the discipline. - Physics & Profession
In the Physics & Profession session, companies and organizations present themselves and offer insights into their work environments. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about a wide range of career paths outside of academia, discover what different jobs in physics look like in practice, and directly connect with potential employers. This session highlights the diverse professional opportunities available to physicists and creates a valuable space for networking across sectors. - Two Panel Discussions
Science Communication and Physics Careers: Stories of Challenge & Change aboutWhat does it take to build a career in physics — from academia to industry, from research to leadership? In this panel discussion, leading physicists including Prof. Dr. Beate Heinemann (Director of DESY), Dr. Ulrike Böhm (industry physicist & DPG Equal Opportunities Committee), Dr. Irene Neumann (IPN Kiel), and Dr. Melanie Eich (data scientist) will share their personal career paths, the challenges they faced, and the strategies that helped them succeed. Together, we will discuss how to overcome barriers, strengthen networks, and create more opportunities for women in physics. An inspiring session for anyone thinking about their own future in science!
- Workshops
Interactive sessions designed for skill-building and personal growth. Topics include: vocal power and presence (public speaking & communication), presentation skills, science communication, didactics and outreach (including work with pupils), and tailored tools for effective teaching and learning. - Special Sessions & Focus Topics
Additional program elements cover equal opportunity, work-life balance, gender-sensitive physics education, and mentoring. Also: a pupils’ program to engage younger future physicists, travel scholarships for students, and sessions spotlighting how institutions are changing or can change to support diversity and inclusion.
