MC group: Institute on Parton Shower and Resummation

Europe/Berlin
Hannes Jung (DESY), Zoltan Nagy
Description
Our aim is to bring together mainly theorists to discuss about various aspect of the parton shower algorithms and the re-summation schemes. The format of the workshop is rather unconventional. We would like to spend more time on discussion than having formal talks.

      Fully Unintegrated Parton Distribution Functions
I will summarize recent progress in the development of an approach to factorization that maintains exact overall kinematics. The need for an approach to perturbative QCD factorization that maintains exact overall kinematics, particularly in situations where a detailed description of final states is desired, will be discussed. I will also emphasize the importance of identifying precise definitions for fully unintegrated parton distributions (and related objects) for ensuring universality.

      The exclusive NLO non-singlet kernel
I will report on the ongoing MC project, called KRKMC, in which NLO DGLAP evolution is performed for the exclusive multiparton distributions with the help of the exclusive kernels. These kernels are calculated within the two-parton phase space for bremsstrahlung subset of the Feynman diagrams of the non-singlet evolution, using Curci-Furmanski-Petronzio factorization scheme.

Some remarks on dipole showers and the DGLAP equation Seminar room 5

      Seminar room 5

I will report on an implementation of a parton shower based on the dipole factorization formulae and discuss in some detail that this shower algorithm reproduces the DGLAP equation. Further discussed is the concept of infrared-sensible evolution variables.

Phase space effects on dipole showers and the DGLAP equation Seminar room 5

      Seminar room 5

I will discuss the possible conflict between dipole cascades and DGLAP evolution suggested by Dokshitzer and Marchesini. In e+e- annihilation gluon emissions with high p_t have a very limited phase space. This affects the possible exponentiation in DGLAP evolution. In particular I will discuss the influence of these limitations in the angular ordered cascade à la HERWIG, and in the k_t-ordered cascade à la ARIADNE.
